Well, today was supposed to be spent rendering the walls and floor of the chimney on readiness for the woodburner. However it soon became apparent that the thickness needed on the walls would need to go on over 2 days :-( it was too heavy to put it on that thick in one go! So now we had a huge amount of cement mixed up and nowhere to use it!....not for long though ;-) We pottered out to the garden and decided to start building the double brick BBQ we had planned to build earlier in the summer but had run out of steam/time. So cement no longer wasted and a pretty impressive start to the double BBQ has commenced! Well done Mr McKenzie. X

The double sided woodburner saga! Part 1
What a mess! |
So far the knock through has taken place and we have installed the hefty wood beams either side as lintels.
The mess is awful understandably but I'm hoping the worst is over. You can see we've reduced the size of the hearth on the dining room side and today will hopefully see the insides rendered and the floor level put in.
Still not sure if I will slate tile the inside or if something 'a bit different will catch my attention!
A friend told me this week that someone she knows is laying her kitchen floor using 2p coins!!! Genius! I'd love to see the result of that, maybe I could use pennies? It'd certainly be cheaper!
I'll update as this project progresses
Squeak soon x

Cath Kidston radiators! Yes please :-))
So I've got the decoupage bug! I decided To order in a load of Cath Kidston paper napkins and start brightening up the bedroom. I figured that if I painted and decoupage the mis-matched furniture, I could create a pretty, shabby chic matching bedroom suite. As ever I kind of got carried away and did the radiators.
